Description

*Britain, WW2, Officer’s Sam Browne Leather Holster & Ammunition Pouches, Named to P. D. Warren, R.A.*

A good WWII-period British Army officer’s Sam Browne leather holster set, comprising a large brown leather revolver holster (approx. 29.5 cm × 17 cm) together with two matching brown leather ammunition pouches designed for attachment to the Sam Browne belt. The holster is of classic wartime officer pattern with full flap, stitched toe cap, brass closure stud and rear mounting loop. Both pouches retain their original brass fittings, reinforced fronts and adjustment straps. The interior of the holster is clearly ink-named “P. D. WARREN R.A.”, providing strong personal identification and provenance. Suitable for Webley or Enfield service revolvers of the period.

Historical Note:
The holster is named “P. D. Warren, R.A.”, and our research suggests this could be Temporary Major P. D. Warren (Service No. 148672), Royal Artillery, a wartime officer who advanced from 2nd Lieutenant (seniority 7 September 1940) to Temporary Major by 21 April 1942. He served in North-West Europe, taking part in the D-Day and post-Normandy campaigns, and was Mentioned in Despatches (London Gazette, 10 May 1945) for distinguished service. His medal entitlement included the 1939–45 Star, France & Germany Star, War Medal 1939–45, and other campaign awards typical of Royal Artillery officers in active theatres. Named officer leatherwork linked to RA personnel with confirmed NW Europe service and an MiD is increasingly scarce and adds considerable historical depth to the set.

*Condition*
Holster structurally sound with expected creasing, scuffing and age marks from field and service use; stitching complete throughout. Ink naming is clear and fully legible. Both ammunition pouches show honest wear, some dryness to straps, and surface marks, but remain complete with original brass buckles, straps and loops. An untouched and well-preserved WW2 officer’s leather rig with desirable named Royal Artillery provenance. Please see photographs as part of the condition report.
