*British, WW2 era, Royal Navy Khaki Drill Bush Shirt, Tropical Tunic*
The use of Khaki Drill was particularly widespread during World War I, when they were issued to soldiers serving in hot and humid theaters of operation, such as the Middle East, Africa and Malta.
This pattern of tunic – Khaki Drill Bush Jacket with Royal Navy buttons was used by RN officers in the British Navy for less formal occasions. It was in service from the Great War through to the early post WW2 period. It is the standard pattern single breasted open collar tunic with brass removable buttons. Four button front, two pleated chest pockets, two lower bag pockets and epaulettes. Loose belt present but belt buckle absent. Buttons marked on reverse G.V.S star
As with most private purchase officers uniform, it is impossible to date this tunic exactly. However it features Kings crown buttons and the construction is typical of those made in the 1940s, so it most likely dates from WW2.
