~ Bronze Ship’s Boat Badge For HMS Challenger Survey Ship (1932) ~
The badge is diamond shaped with a rope border and depicts a stag against a blue background.
The border of the piece has four mount holes, one at each corner.
The reverse is impressed ‘CHALLENGER’ with 5187/S in white paint.
It would have originally been fitted to one of the ships launches.
~ HMS Challenger ~
HMS Challenger was a survey ship of the United Kingdom’s Royal Navy. She was laid down in 1930 at Chatham Dockyard and built in a dry dock. After that, the ship was moved to Portsmouth for completion and commissioned on 15 March 1932. In January 1954, Challenger returned to the UK, paid off, and was broken up at Dover.

The badge measures 6 inches by 6 inches (15.25cm). It weighs 948g.

There is some wear to the gilt around the edges, but the badge is in an otherwise good condition.
