~ c1858 Royal Vienna Porcelain Hussar Figurine ~
A Royal Vienna porcelain figure of a Hussar soldier dated for 1858.
The figure is of an Italian Hussar dressed in a blue frock coat, brown trousers, cross belt with sword and
bearskin hat.
The figure is posed with one hand on hip the other raised. This pose leads us to believe there may have been
another element to this figure which has been lost.
He stands on a circular white base with gilt decoration.
The underside of the figurine has three stamped marks: the ‘beehive’ mark denoting Royal Vienna, The
number ’36’ (molder or turners mark) and the number ‘858’ which is the date mark for 1858.
~ Dimensions ~
The base has a diameter of 7.5cm (3 inches).
The figure stands at 17.5cm (7 ½ inches) and weighs 240g.
~ Condition ~
As mentioned, it appears the figure may be missing something from his right hand, though it does not
appear damaged.
The figurine is in a very nice condition throughout with little wear and no damages.
