A bronze car mascot in the shape of a cockerel by the artist G. Omerth circa 1937.
The piece is of solid bronze in the form of a cockerel, shown standing upright upon a rock or similar.
The piece is signed by the artist ‘G. Omerth’.
It is mounted on a black Bakelite base.
~ Dimensions ~
The sculpture itself measures 14.5cm (5 ¾ inches) and upon mount measures 19cm (7 ½ inches).
It weighs 530g.
~ Condition ~
The piece has some repair to the legs which cause the model to lean at an angle, although the damage is not obvious unless on close inspection. The
piece is otherwise in a nice condition.
~ G. Omerth ~
Georges Omerth’s was a French sculptor. He was a pupil of the sculptor Albert-Ernest Carrier-Belleuse and was active as an artist from 1895 to 1925,
exhibiting at the Société des Artistes Français in Paris.
Omerth produced numerous figures and statuettes of children, women and men in classical style, art nouveau and the style of Art Deco. He used
materials such as bronze, chryselephantine, ivory, zinc and biscuit porcelain .
