The Model 17, commonly known as the “Eierhandgranate,” was a hand-thrown fragmentation grenade. Manufactured from 1917 onwards, it earned its name due to its unique egg-like shape, measuring approximately 60mm in height (10cm with fuse). Constructed from cast iron, it features a serrated outer surface designed to enhance fragmentation upon detonation. The Model 17 Egg Grenade played a significant role in the trench warfare of World War I and became an iconic symbol of the conflict.
~Condition~
This Egg grenade is in excellent condition for its age with no damage but does not come with a fuse. Please see pictures for more detail as they form part of our condition report.
