~ Early 20th Century British Army Other Ranks Busby #2 ~
An early 20th Century busby, as worn by the fusiliers & foot guard regiments of the British Army.
The busby is made of black fur to the outside. It has removable, leather backed chin scales.
The busby keeps its shape with its bamboo skeleton.
To the inside is a black leather sweatband with adjustable crossover flaps which has a makers name tag of W. Mutrie & Son, Edin’ attached to one of the flaps.
Mutrie & Sons of Edinburgh, Scotland was a theatrical costumier who also made and supplied uniforms for the British Army.
~ Dimensions ~
The busby has an approximate height to the front of 11 inches (28cm) and to the reverse 14 inches (35.5cm).
The inner head band measures approximately 7 inches (18cm) by 8 inches (20cm).
It weighs 720g.
~ Condition ~
The fur is in good condition apart from a large bald spot to the side. The bamboo skeleton is in good shape. The leather sweat band is in reasonable condition with not too much wear. The chin strap is in a quite good used condition with only minor wear. There is no plume.
