~ Early 20th Century Royal Horse Artillery Officers Charger Shabraque ~
This shabraque (saddle cloth) is in a dark blue cloth. It has crimson and a grey cloth border, the colours of the Royal Artillery. This saddle cloth is used by the officers.
Each hind quarter is finished with a stump work embroidered Queen’s crown over the Royal Artillery monogram above the cannon emblem with the ‘Ubique’ motto.
The shabraque has leather sections where the legs are to hand and the inner liner is made from buff leather.
It is a wonderfully unique piece of Royal Horse Artillery memorabilia that can be dated to the early 20th century from wear shown and materials used.

The cloth is 60 inches (152 cm) wide.
The cloth weighs 2.75 Kg,
~ Condition ~
There are some tears in the stitching that appear to be from a combination of age and use.
There are some sections where the fabrics colour has faded but it has held remarkably well.
The gold wire has faded with just traces of the original colour.
