~ Early Circa 1775 Figure Of Eight Cutlass ~
Predating the heavier and standard 1804 pattern cutlass by some 30 years, this blade has a narrow fuller running down 80% of its length and it has developed a decent patina.
~ Condition ~
The steel grip is loose and rotates. There is general pitting and oxidization, hardly surprising for such an ancient blade, and the edge has numerous nicks from active use. The tip is now rounded.
~ Dimensions ~
The cutlass is 87 cm (34 inches) in total length with a 73.5 cm (29 inches) blade.
