A General Service Medal With Canal Zone Clasp awarded to Craftsman M.C.J. Cox of the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers.
This is the 1918 General Service Medal, the Queen Elizabeth II ‘DEI GRATIA’ version which was awarded between1955–1962.
The General Service Medal (1918 GSM) was instituted to recognise service in minor Army and Royal Air Force operations for which no separate medal was intended. The Canal Zone clasp tells us that this medal was awarded for 30 days continuous service between 16 October 1951 and 19 October 1954 within certain specified geographical boundaries in Egypt.
The medal is engraved to the edge ‘21126317 CFN M C J COX REME’.
The medal comes with its ribbon.

The medal is of the standard size and weighs 44.8g.
~ Condition ~
The medal has some light scratches commensurate with age and wear and part of the clasp is a little bent but otherwise the medal is in a nice condition.
