*German, Pre-WW2 - c.1930s,  NSDAP / Political Organisation Screw-Back Membership or Service Style Badge / Award, enamelled cross form*

An early pre-Second World War German political insignia badge of cross pattée form, constructed in gilt-finished metal with translucent green enamel arms surrounding a central red enamel roundel bearing a black swastika. The reverse retains its original screw-post fitting with circular backing plate, characteristic of early privately purchased or organisation-issued political badges from the NSDAP era prior to the widespread adoption of later pin-back fittings.

The badge measures approximately 4.8 cm x 4.8 cm and displays strong period construction features including fired enamel decoration, brass-toned alloy body, and a separately applied central reverse disc. The overall design loosely echoes contemporary patriotic and veterans’ cross-form insignia produced in Germany during the late Weimar and early Third Reich period.

Approx. Measurements – 4.8 cm x 4.8 cm.

History Note:
During the early 1930s, numerous NSDAP political, commemorative, veterans’, and affiliated organisational badges were produced in both pin-back and screw-back configurations. Screw-back fittings were especially common on higher-quality private purchase pieces and early political insignia intended for wear on tunics or civilian dress. The use of coloured enamel cross forms combined with the national emblem reflected the broader visual language adopted by the Party during its consolidation of power before the outbreak of the Second World War.

*Condition*
The badge remains in solid original condition overall with age-related wear throughout. The enamel displays surface scratching, minor chips, and scattered areas of wear commensurate with age and handling. The gilt finish has toned and worn back across the reverse surfaces with areas of oxidation and patina present. The screw-post remains intact and retains its circular backing disc. No maker marks are visible from the photographs provided. Please see photographs as part of the condition report.
