*German, WW2, 1939 Spange to the Iron Cross 2nd Class 1914, Maker Marked L/12 – C. E. Juncker Berlin*
The 1939 Spange to the Iron Cross 2nd Class 1914 was awarded to individuals who had received the 2nd Class Iron Cross during World War I and subsequently earned the same class in World War II.
The Spange to the Iron Cross Second Class features an eagle clutching an oak leaf wreath encircling a mobile swastika, positioned above a pebbled trapezoid with the year “1939”. The award, made of Tomback or zinc, has a polished finish and measures approx 30mm in both height and width.
The flat reverse, features three (of four) prongs to attach the spange to a length of ribbon. This is maker marked to the reverse, L/12 – the LDO number for C. E. Juncker Berlin SW 68 Alte Jakobstr. 13. The clasp was worn on the ribbon of the 1914 Iron Cross (looped on the second buttonhole), as part of a mounted bar of full medals, or in a ribbon bar as a device attached to the 1914 slot.
