Issued to Franz Michl, 13 Dez 1942. Stamm-kp Gren Ers Btl 481. (Grenadier Training Battalion 481 / Infantry Training Battalion 481.)
Among other things, it contained the following headings: Personal data, unit of troops, addresses of the next of kin, proof of clothing and equipment, special clothing notes, proof of ownership of weapons and equipment, vaccinations, prescription glasses, admission to a permanent, field, war or reserve hospital Identification of the reason (cf. the German Wehrmacht ‘s list of diseases), proof of salary, awards, leave of absence for more than five days. The rear pocket bears a “Proof of Training and equipment for the tropics” record sheet with Afrika Corps listed, dated 1943.
The battalion was formed on September 3, 1939 in Hof, Wehrkreis XIII . The Infantry Replacement Battalion 481 was subordinate to Division 193 and provided the replacement for the 256th Infantry Division. The battalion was transferred to the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia in 1942. On October 10, 1942, the battalion was divided into an Infantry Replacement Battalion 481 in Jitschin and an Infantry Training Battalion 481 in Jungbunzlau, both in the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia. Both battalions were renamed Grenadier Replacement Battalion 481 and Grenadier Training Battalion 481 on November 7, 1942. On December 13, 1943, the training battalion was relocated to France to re-establish the 272nd Infantry Division. The staff of the training battalion received the field post number 58961 on January 3, 1944, but at the end of the same month it changed to the 1st battalion of the 981 Grenadier Regiment. On March 26, 1945, the replacement battalion was mobilized in the 296 Replacement Regiment in Jitschin in the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia as part of the Leuthen movement.

An excellent original piece. Cover is damaged and tops f pages torn/burnt but it is a good clear record of one soldiers war. There is no photograph. Please see photographs as part of the condition report.
