~ Hand Decorated British Royal Navy Life Ring HMS Ledbury ~
An authentic life-saving float ring from the H.M.S. Ledbury, a Hunt-class, minesweeping vessel launched in Portsmouth England in 1979.
The naval ship’s name has been customarily hand painted in blue and gold enamel and the craft’s heraldic shield is represented twice, on this item the shield has been applied by a crew-member with paint-pen and has a rough aesthetic.
On the reverse of the ring (around the edge) are 4 points where rope was attached and wall mounting could easily be fashioned.
~ Dimensions ~
It has a height of 30.5 inches (77.5cm) and a width of 30.5 inches (77.5cm) and a depth of 4.25 inches (10.5cm).
The ring weighs 4.8kg.
~ Condition ~
Being an authentic, naval, sea-bound item, this piece has endured salt air and spray, it shows numerous scuffs and light cracks in the vinyl paint as to be expected.
In one or two places on the reverse side the durable orange plastic that the piece is made from is visible due to wear and tear aboard the ship.
