An original boat badge from the 1918 Royal Navy S-class destroyer HMS Shark.
HMS Shark (1918) was an S-class destroyer launched in 1918 and scrapped in 1931.
The badge is of cast metal, shield shaped with a rope border.
The badge features a depiction of a shark painted silver on a blue ground.
The badge has three mounting holes round its edge and two small drilled holes to the reverse.
This was the official design, the pattern approved in August of 1920.

The badge measures 12.5cm (5 inches) by14cm (5 ½ inches).
It weighs 1.170 Kg.
~ Condition ~
The badge is in a very nice condition with only general light wear but no damages.
~ S-Class ~
The S-class (initially known as the Modified Trenchant class) was a class of 67 destroyers ordered for the Royal Navy in 1917. They saw active service in the last months of the First World War and in the Russian and Irish Civil Wars during the early 1920s. Most were relegated to the reserve by the mid-1920s and subsequently scrapped under the terms of the London Naval Treaty, though eleven survivors saw action during the Second World War.
