~ Imperial German Wurttemberg Regimental Commemorative Beer Stein ~
This is a beautiful lidded beer stein, decorated with the Wurttemberg – one of the smaller German states – state colours and laurel leaves and military scenes.
The top rim reads ‘9. Wurtt. Inftr. Reg. No. 127. Ulm, 1903-1905’.
On both the right and left sides of the handle there is a list with the names of the regiment’s NCO’s.
The scenes depict a number of soldiers camping; the old king Charles I of Württemberg above flags, laurel and the state’s coat of arms and the last scene commemorates, most probably the 1870 Franco-Prussian war.
The metal lid is decorated with embossed flowers and leaves.
These steins were usually purchased by or given to the owner on completion of conscript service and subsequent posting to the reserve.
