Description
Glazed painting over photograph of the Officer E. Lodge wearing his King & Queen South Africa Medals with Clasps along with India General Service Medal. He is listed on the Somerset Light Infantry roll as receiving the India Medal: Punjab Frontier 1897-98.
Collection of brasses including:
Official Copy Pocket Book of Common Prayer: Marked – Official Copy with British Crest front and back – Marked in pen 3131 on the side and E.L on another. He has used it as a repository for some of his stamp collection and many of his India Stamps are stuck in here dated ’98 as well as stamps from England stamped Bath, Newport, Liverpool, Chatham, London, etc. Approx 27 pages. Inside the back cover are three regimental cigarette cards with six more stuck in approx p319 with a picture annotated Gibraltar, Spain.
St Johns Gospel Pamphlet: Stamped “Miss Perks, The Soldiers Home, Winchester.” Annotated in pencil: “Entered the Orange Free State 15-4-1900.” “Entered the Transvaal 3-6-190 (indistinct)”.
The Soldiers home provided recreational facilities to soldiers.
