~ Large Christofle Silver Plated Serving Tray ~
This generously sized modern Silver Time rectangular tray with two handles in the “Malmaison” pattern is ideal for beverage service or table-top presentation.
One of Christofle’s most historic patterns, Malmaison typifies the Empire style, with its frieze of delicate palm and lotus leaves and symmetrical design. The name is a nod to the Chateau de la Malmaison, a favoured Parisian residence of Napoleon Bonaparte and Empress Josephine.
On the underside of each handle the maker’s marks can be found, “CHRISTOFLE” “FRANCE” and a knight chesspiece with the letters O and C either side. We believe that this stamp both indicates the material to be silver plate and the date of manufacture to be between the years 1935 – 1985.
