~ Moorcroft Trial Piece Small Jardinière ~
A lovely small trial piece jardinière by Moorcroft. It is a fairly modern piece dating to the much later half of the 20th century.
The jardinière is of circular form with a footed base and a wide upper lip.
It has hand-painted decoration to the outside of delicate flowers in pinks, blues and yellows with green leaves on a cream ground. The cream ground
extends to the inside of the vase also.
The piece is unusual in that the decoration does not have the usual tube lining to the decoration, instead it is smooth.
The piece is stamped to the underside ‘Moorcroft, Made in England’ and has the word ‘Trial’ handwritten in blue ink. The base is also marked with a red
spot which denotes this is a seconds piece.
~ Dimensions ~
The piece has a diameter of 13.5cm (5 ¼ inches) and a height of 12cm (4 ¾ inches).
It weighs 535g.
~ Condition ~
Despite being a seconds the piece is in near excellent condition with no chips, cracks or crazing.
