~ Named Early 20th Century Naval Bicorn And Case ~
Here we have a Naval Bicorn, this was a part of an officers ‘walking out’ or full dress uniform.
This bicorn and case comes from the Military outfitter E. J. Whitaker of Chattam opened in 1904.
The tin has been marked W. L. Lind
The bicorn is made from black velvet with an embroidered black cloth edging and an off white satin like fabric inner lining. At either tip of the hat there is gold bullion attached to a gold thread button.
The inside has the words ‘E. J. Whitaker OUTFITTER MILITARY ROAD CHATTAM’ in gilt lettering.
There are the letters ‘WLL’ on the inside.
There are two manufacture stickers on the inside.
The case is tin with a plated and comes with its original padlock.

The bicorn is 17 inches (43 cm) long.
The bicorn is 7 inches (18 cm) wide.
The bicorn is 6 inches (15 cm) tall.
The set weighs 1.91 Kg.
~ Condition ~
The tin is in a worn condition with a corroded pin and lock.
The bicorn is in a wonderful condition with the only wear being some slight discolouration to the inner lining.
