This helmet still has its original liner and chin strap but no buckle.
The strap has the makers stamp:- G. SCHIELE LOBURG 1940
There are remnants of what could be Black paint on one side but it also could have been field cammo painted at one point as there seems to be a pattern (see pictures) This could of course just be the way it laid in the mud?
There is no doubt that this is a war used original battlefield helmet.
*Condition*
Heavily rust pitted throughout including liner band, oil has been applied to prevent further degradation.
The leather liner has turned black and the chin strap is also hard and brittle.
There is still a batch No vaguely visible but not legible.
The makers mark is no longer visible.
Please see the pictures as these form part of our condition report.
