    Description

~ Post-WW1 Original Other Ranks British Army Field Tunic ~

The tunic is made of khaki/grey/green wool with no lining, probably the summer uniform.

All its brass buttons are present, as are the belt hooks. The reverse of the buttons is stamped with the manufacturer’s name ‘G. Preston, Birmingham’, except for one which is of a different manufacturer ‘Sydney Griffith, Birmingham’.

There are no badges or unit marks present.

The measurement white label is still present inside, but is quite worn as seen in the pictures.

The inside is also marked ‘443’ and ‘W, broad arrow, D’ above ‘52’.

    ~ Dimensions ~

The tunic is 31 inches (78.7 cm) long (on the rear side) from the collar’s top to the lower edge of the tunic.

The width from shoulder to shoulder is 17 inches (43.2 cm).

The arm length (on the outside) from shoulder seam to the end of cuff is 24 inches (61 cm).

The waist is 16.5 inches (42 cm) across.

The chest (when laid down flat) from armpit to armpit is 19.5 inches (49.5 cm) across.

    It weighs 1.1 kg.

    ~ Condition ~

The uniform is in very good condition for its age.

There are a couple of small moth holes and one small patch on the front.

The collar’s lining has minor tears from prior wear.
