An original pre-1932 German SS kepi.
The kepi was the original headgear of the SS before the major change to the uniform in 1932 when the kepi was replaced by the peaked cap.
The kepi is of black felt it has a flat circular top and a short peak.
The cap features black and silver braid denoting a junior officer (higher ranks were just silver).
The cap has two metal badges to the front; the totenkopf (skull and crossbones) and the Parteiadler (eagle with head facing right, above swastika).
The cap has its black leather chin strap, red silk lining and features its original brown leather headband.
There is card with printed German writing around the inside of the headband, which has been put there to keep the shape of the cap.

The cap has an inner circumference of 51cm (20 inches) and a depth of 10.5cm (4 ¼ inches).
It measures 21.5m (8 ½ inches) from back to front of peak.
It weighs 175g.
~ Condition ~
The outside elements of the kepi are in lovely condition with no damages or wear to the felt and little wear to the chin strap and braiding. The badges have age patina but no damages.
The silk lining is in a decent order with no tears and only light signs of wear.
The leather headband has some wear with a few small splits along the edge.
