~ Queens Own Royal Yeomanry Staffordshire 1871 Pattern Dress Helmet ~
A 1871 pattern black metal Yeomanry Helmet with its white metal decorations (including the ‘Staffordshire Knot’), and plume rosette bosses to support a black leather backed chin strap.
The helmet has a white metal spine running down the rear of the helmet and a metal trim around the front peak.
The interior has a brown leather liner, burgundy colour lining and red leather under the visors.
To the front regimental badge, flanked with sprays of oak and laurel leaves. The British Victorian Era Queen’s Own Royal Yeomanry Helmet Plate, engraved “The Queens Own Royal Yeomanry.
It has a candlestick plume socket to the top with acanthus base, which is missing its plume.
~ Dimensions ~
The helmet is 8 ½ inches (22 cm) tall (without the spike) and 11 inches (28.5 cm) tall (with the spike). It has a depth of 11 inches (28 cm), a width of 7 inches (17.5 cm) & weighs 1.10Kg.
~ Condition ~
Overall, this piece is in generally good condition for its age. The skull has one smallish dent to the rear right.
