~ Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers WW1 Raw Edge Brodie Helmet ~
An early WW1 raw edge 1st pattern Brodie helmet of the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers.
These early ‘raw edge’ war department helmets made in 1915 numbered about 50,000.
This helmet is typical of its type with an irregular ‘wavy’ rim and skull.
The helmet bears a badge to the front of the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers.
The helmet has its original oilskin liner and leather chinstrap.
There is a stripe of green paint to one side.
~ Dimensions ~
The helmet measures 30.5cm (12 inches) front to back by 28cm (11 inches) side to side with an height of 10cm (4 ¼ inches). It has an
inner circumference of 71cm (28 inches).
It weighs 905g.
~ Condition ~
The helmet has developed a patina over time and has a few areas of rust. It has a compression to the top but otherwise is without
damage. The liner is in a decent used condition as is the leather strap.
