    Description

    ~ South African FN-FAL R1 Socket Bayonet and Nylon Scabbard #2 ~

A rare find, this bayonet is designed for South African FN (Fabrique Nationale) FAL (Fusil Automatique Legere) and R1 rifles. It features a one-piece tubular steel construction with flash ports and a spear-pointed blade having a semicircular profile. The blade measures 6½ inches (16.5cm) in length, with an overall bayonet length of 11 3/8 inches (28.9cm). It comes complete with a black nylon plastic scabbard featuring a frog hook, a steel universal-type throat piece, and a ball finial.

The R1 rifle was declared militarily obsolete in the late 1990s, and in 2001, the South African Army disposed of its inventory, totaling 206,454 R1 rifles. However, some surviving examples remain in service with the South African Police and National Parks rangers. Additionally, a portion of these rifles, initially exported to Rhodesia in the 1970s, has since been sold as surplus.

    *Condition*
This bayonet is is excellent condition with great quality parkersiation. Light signs of wear and tear. Please see photographs as part of the condition report.
