~ Victorian 18th Regiment Of Foot Shako Plate ~
Here we have a Victorian shako plate marked to the 18th Regiment of Foot.
The 18th at the time would have been known as the Royal Irish Regiment and served in a very impressive number of battles and campaigns including the Second Anglo Afghan, the New Zealand and the First Opium Wars.
The badge is made of brass that has been stamped from a sheet and had the inserts cut out. It is a wreathed 18 topped by the Queens crown with ‘Honi soit qui mal y pense’ around the 18. The badge has two lugs for a split pin on the rear face.

~ Condition ~
The badge is in good condition for its age with some loss of lustreon the right hand side of the face due to age and a patina to the rear face.
