Description

*Webley & Scott of Birmingham MKIV .32cal “Pocket or Snub-Nose” Revolver. c1949*

Webley & Scott Mark IV .32 S&W caliber pistol. Excellent snub nose in .32 S&W. Serial no A99834 marked on the frame, also marked in rotation on the chamber A-99-8-34 and 8-3-4 underneath the barrel lug. Webley cites that Mark IV revolvers  with serial numbers A16000- A24999 .32 cal were made between 1949- 1952. Marked Webley & Scott Birmingham, Made in England, Mark 1v 32 on the top strap. Webley logo on the frame and Webley cursive name on the grip. Stamped on left frame: 32″ LONG .915′ 3 TONS. British proof marks.

Webley produced two series of modern top-break action revolvers: a large-frame and a small-frame series. The large-frame Webley Mark IV was designed for military use, firing the .455 British military cartridge. In contrast, the small-frame “Pocket” Webley Mark IV was intended for civilian and police use, chambered for .32 Smith & Wesson Long or .38 Smith & Wesson cartridges. The smallest of these was the “Pocket Model,” featuring a three-inch barrel and shortened grip. This compact design catered to the needs of individuals, like police detectives, who required concealed carry in civilian attire while maintaining the efficiency of a full-size revolver.

Webley & Scott is an arms manufacturer founded in Birmingham, England. Webley produced handguns and long guns from 1834 to 1979, when the company ceased to manufacture firearms and instead turned its attention to producing air pistols and air rifles. In 2010 Webley & Scott restarted the production of shotguns for commercial sale.

*Condition*
Excellent almost original condition, with original factory high luster blue. The butt is chipped but otherwise this revolver is in excellent condition. The gun is deactivated but all moving parts work as they should. Please see photographs as part of the condition report.
