~ William Moorcroft Two Handled Footed Bowl Spanish Pattern Circa 1916 ~
A wonderful William Moorcroft bowl with his signature dating to circa 1916.
The bowl is of circular form with a handle on each side.
It is decorated in the ‘Spanish’ Pattern, with iris and cornflowers in rich red, green and purple glazes against a cobalt blue ground.
The base is impressed with the ‘Moorcroft, Burslem, England’ stamp, and is hand signed in green in with William Moorcrofts full signature.
~ Dimensions ~
The bowl has a body diameter of 8.5 inches (21.5cm) and a height of 4 inches (10cm). It weighs 1.050 Kg.
~ Condition ~
The bowl is free from cracks other than a short one to the right of one of the handles which is probably a firing one. There are no chips except for a small one on the inside ‘flat’ surface which may just be a flaw.
The glaze is crackled, most visibly to the underside.
There is quite a lot of scratches to the inside base of the bowl.
