Here we have a standard tropical uniform Kriegsmarine Tunic with the shoulder tabs of an Oberfeldwebel (warrant officer) navigator ratings officer.
The tunic is the standard khaki brown colour with brass buttons, shoulder boards and the factory sewn eagle above the right breast pocket and the three holes under the arm.
The jacket appears to be early war or possibly private purchase due to the buttons reading Reichsmarine rather than Kriegsmarine, the reverse reading ‘Reichsmarine, Im Feuer Vergoldet’ with an ‘A’ above a ‘6’.
This tunic is in wonderful condition for its age with the fabric still supple and well cared for.
~ Dimensions ~
The jacket measures 29 inches (73.5 cm) from collar to tail.
The chest measures 18 inches (46 cm) across the chest, between the armpits.
The outer edge of the sleeve measures 23 inches (58.5 cm) in length.
The jacket weighs 950 g.
~ Condition ~
There is some fraying to the inserts on the inside of the jacket, a couple of small holes and the odd dark mark but otherwise the jacket is in great condition and has been well looked after.
It is missing a button on the lower right pocket.
