~ First World War Imperial Russian M1891 Mosin-Nagant Rifle dated 1917 ~
The 3-line rifle M1891, colloquially known in the West as Mosin–Nagant and in Russia and former Soviet Union as Mosin’s rifle, is a five-shot, bolt-action, internal magazine–fed military rifle. It is primarily found chambered for its original 7.62×54mmR cartridge.
Developed from 1882 to 1891, it was used by the armed forces of the Russian Empire, the Soviet Union and various other states. It is one of the most mass-produced military bolt-action rifles in history, with over 37 million units produced since 1891. In spite of its age, it has been used in various conflicts around the world up to the present day.
This is a rare example of the original M1891 model of the rifle that has not been converted to the more common 91/30 variant. It features the Tula Arsenal stamp indicating its factory of manufacture and Imperial Russian seal. A Birmingham Nitro proof stamp is also visible on the receiver. The rifle is numbered 13709 and was made in 1917.
*Condition*
The Rifle is in very good condition. The Wooden stock is in good condition with a few spots of wear as to be expected with a military rifle of its age. The metal work is in good condition with a miniscule spot of rust on the end of the barrel and some wear to the finish. The Bolt moves smoothly and the trigger moves under spring pressure. The Magazine release functions and the spring moves freely. The Rifle cannot dry fire as per current deactivation regulations. Overall this is a very nice example of a rare and historic rifle.
