This Wilkinson-made sword has a single-edged blade with a flat spine, tapering to a false edge and spear point. It features a fuller that runs along both sides of the blade for most of its length.
The blade is covered in decorative etchings including a crown and the Royal Navy fouled anchor motif along with the E II R and maker’s mark. At the base it reads “By appointment to the late King George VI”.
Its half-basket hilt is comprised of copper and is attached to a brass, lion’s head pommel and shagreen grip.
The original brown leather scabbard is brass-mounted and holds the sword firmly.
~ Condition ~
The blade is in pristine condition with all original etchings. There is minimal wear to the hilt but it is partly oxidised. The scabbard has some general wear across the leather parts. Please see pictures for more detail as they form part of our condition report.
