~ Circa 1840 Prussian Lieutenants Armour Brest Plate ~
This is a two piece armor set comprising a frontal breast plate and a dorsal plate.
Both pieces are made of steel with brass edges and studs.
There are 28 studs on the frontal plate out of which four are missing.
There are 31 stud on the dorsal plate with 5 missing.
The frontal plate is designed with a hollow central spine designed to deflect small firearms projectiles.
This armor set has been used in Prussia after the Napoleonic Wars.
The brass and leather link belts are not present.
~ Dimensions ~
The cuirass is 7 inches (18 cm) deep.
The cuirass is 12 inches (30 cm) wide.
The cuirass is 16 inches (40 cm) high.
The set weighs 3,6 kilograms.
~ Condition ~
The set is in good condition for its age.
There is some ageing to the steel and brass but the item has been kept in good condition.
Most of the bras gilding is worn.
The cuirass is missing the leather on the inside lines of the set and a few of the studs, as mentioned above.
