Among its notable creations is the Greener Police Gun, a Martini-Action shotgun widely embraced by British Colonial Police forces, notably in Egypt, during the early 1900s. The “EG” designation likely stands for “Egypt Giffae,” pertaining to the Egyptian Police Service. The Mark III variant of this firearm emerged in response to the post-World War I requisites of British colonial police forces. It boasted proprietary ammunition to prevent criminals from using stolen police guns and used special bottlenecked shells and trident-shaped strikers so it couldn’t fire commercially available shells.
