~ Circa 1900 Oak & Bound Brass Barrel Tobacco Jar ~
A fine oak and brass tobacco barrel/jar designed in a similar fashion to a Royal Naval rum tub.
The piece dates to around 1900.
The barrel is made of oak staves bound by four brass hoops.
It has an oak lid with brass hinges.
~ Dimensions ~
The barrel has a width of 13cm (5 inches) a depth of 16cm (6 ¼ inches) and a height of 18cm (7 inches).
It weighs 600g.
~ Condition ~
The hinges are a little loose with some oxidation to the pins and the four brass hoops are not fixed into place. The barrel has a few minor dings from age and use but overall the piece is in a very nice condition and has no damage.
