~ Model 1862 Preußen Kürassier Generals Metalhelme Helmet ~
The helmet has a tombak body with a step-down peak and broad-swept neck guard, and is fitted with a four leaf clover field service spike. The line eagle Wappen (front plate) carries a “FR” on the eagle’s chest.
The chinscales are convex and are fitted to the helmet with rosettes, set upon cockades with a three crucifix/clover leaf end. It has a black leather liner under the front visor and velvet under the rear one. There is a brown sweat band and a brown silk liner.
~ Dimensions ~
The helmet is 12.7 inches (32.3 cm) tall by 11.5 inches (29.3 cm) deep and 7.5 inches (19.1 cm) wide.
It weighs 615 g.
~ Condition ~
The chrome on the tombak has started to peel on various areas of the helmet. The reverse left of the helmet has numerous dents. The inner lining is in excellent if grubby condition, as is the plate & the fittings.
