~ 9th – 10th Century Single Piece Skull Norman Or Norse Kingdoms Nasal Helm ~
Here we have an incredible item, an original nasal helmet of Norman or Norse origins from the late first millennium that has been in private collections since its discovery in the early 20th century.
An impressive piece of European military history and also incredibly rare, being one of the very few of its kind left in this condition. Definitely an item that is fit for any museum or significant private collection.
The helmet has verifiable X-Rays available if needed.
Now to the helmet – it is a single piece skull nasal helmet. That would place it anywhere between the 9th and 10th centuries and possibly a rarity even then, many helmets of the style being riveted to the frame.
This one has a short nasal bar that would protect the bridge of the nose and deflect downwards blows, this would’ve been worn over padding and mail. The helmet still has the rivet holes where the helmets liner and straps would have been attached to.
Overall it is a truly rare and impressive piece.
