First World War Gun Sight by Queen-Gray Philadelphia in Original Case
This heavy brass gunsight with its end cap by Queen-Gray is complete with two coloured filters in green and yellow and a rubber eye piece. The sight is in its original hard wood case with a red painted interior. To the centre of the inside lid is the makers Label “Queen-Gray Co Philadelphia”. The company founded in 1850, specialised in scientific equipment.
The outer ring is marked ‘TURN TO FOCUS’.
The inner ring is marked ‘TURN TO CHANGE POWER’ with ‘2 1 0 1 2’.
By the barrel it is stamped with the makers name, a broad arrow and 17 for 1917.
The exterior of the case has been painted with the words “V.P 3-9 GUNSIGHTING” and what appears to read “AIDAN”.

The case measures 28.5 inches (73cm) long. 6 inches (15cm) wide by 4.5 inches (11.5cm) tall.
The telescope measures 23 inches (58cm) long. The objective lens has a diameter of 2.5 inches (6.5cm).
The lot weighs 8.25kg.
~ Condition ~
The lot is in good condition overall. The brass has darkened but is clean. The two coloured filters are intact although there is a star crack to the yellow filter. The rubber eyepiece has perished with age. The case is strong. There is some bruising to the exterior but no major damage. The inside of the case is clean. The optics are decent.
