~ M1895 Prussian Artillery Reservists Officers Pickelhaube Helmet ~
The helmet has a black leather skull with brass trimmed front visor. Being an artillery piece, the rear spine is correctly not vented.
The gilt helmet plate consists of the crowned eagle facing left with crest on the breast over an eight pointed ‘hochgewölbten’ starburst with the state badge & reservists cross to the fore.
The cross reads “MIT GOTT FUR FUERST UND VATERLAND 1813” (With God and Kingdom of Homeland, 1813).
The brass round type ball ‘spike’ sits on a circular base with four surrounding stars and ‘mother of pearl’ banding.
It has a rounded rear neck, the correct cockades and leather backed chin scales.
It is complete with its brown leather hat band & blue silk liner.
No stamps are visible.
~ Dimensions ~
The helmet measures 9 inches (23cm) tall (including the ball spike) with a length of 9.5 inches (24.5cm) and a width of 6.5 inches (16.5cm).
It weighs 560 grams.
~ Condition ~
The helmet is in very good condition. The leather skull is of good form, the stitching on the rear visor is worn but it is still held in place. There is one small area of surface loss by the rear spine. The chin scales are complete. The liner is in very decent order.
