Description

Here we have a wonderful set of pocket pistols made by T Richards, proofed in London.

There isn’t much information about T. Richards aside from that he was making firearms from the mid 18th century and onwards into the early 19th century.

These pistols are of the screw barrel design, where the barrel screws off and the ball is held in place with the friction from the barrel, allowing for concealment and preloading.

These two pistols are made from engraved steel, the grip is a dark hardwood.

The side of the firearms is engraved with ‘T. Richards’, the underside of the barrel is stamped with the makers mark’T.R.’ and the Crowned V and Crowned P inspection and proof marks of London.

One of the pistols only cocks to half cock and the other has a very strong spring and will cock fully.

The set comes with a box bearing the label of Parker, Field and Sons, Armourers to the Metropolitan Police Force.

The pistols bore is .45 inches.

~ Dimensions ~

The pistols are 7.25 (18.25) inches in length.

The removable barrel is 2.2 inches (5.5 cm) long.

The case is 10 inches (25.5 cm) wide, by 7 inches (18 cm) deep by 3 inches(7.5 cm) tall.

The pistols each weigh 300g.

The set weighs 1.22 Kg.

~ Condition ~

The pistols are in excellent condition.

There is one pistol that only half cocks but the other cocks fully with a strong spring.

There are some minor cosmetic scuffs to the wood and steel from use.

The box has some fraying to the liner fabric and has no key.
