~ ‘Portsmouth Parish Church’ rare 1921 Cathedral history by Lilley & Everitt 192pp ~
Published by Charpentier in 1921.This publisher was situated just opposite the Cathedral at 46, High Street. It has 192pp with illustrations. It measures approximately 25cm x 16cm.
This is a very rare volume. We have only seen a few other copies in the last 25 years. Like the other copies, the page edges are uncut and therefore have a rough appearance, and the gutta percha binding has resulted in a splits to the front cover that has left the cover and the first few pages a bit loose and wobbly. From then on, the binding is quite sound. The covers were of the type that overlapped the main text block, and these overlaps have become torn and ragged. Still in fair overall condition.
Written six years before the ‘Parish Church’ became a Cathedral.
A very interesting read
