Description

*British, 1977, 30mm Aden (Armament Development, Enfield) Practice Cannon Round, Radway Green, Inert*

The ADEN cannon was produced by the Royal Small Arms Factory. This 30mm revolver cannon found extensive use on various military aircraft, notably those belonging to the British Royal Air Force and Fleet Air Arm. Developed after World War II, it was specifically designed to fulfill the British Air Ministry’s need for enhanced firepower in aircraft armament. Electrically fired and fully automatic once loaded, the ADEN cannon significantly increased lethality in aerial combat.

Marked above base: 361 CY 77 Prac 4*Z
Marked on Extract Groove: J30mm RG 77
Marked on the Projectile: RG90

“361” is the lot number.
“CY” is Royal Ordnance Factory Chorley which was the filling station.
“77” is the date.
“PRAC” is for Practice.
“4Z” is Practice Mark 4 and the “Z” is for nitrocellulose propellant.
“J” is the case type
“30MM” is the calibre.
“RG” is the manufacturer Radway Green.
“77” is the date.
