The trio consists 1914-15 Star (awarded to all who served in any theatre of war against Germany between 5th August 1914 and 31st December 1915, except those eligible for the 1914 Star), the British War Medal (awarded to those who either entered a theatre of war or entered service overseas between 5th August 1914 and 11th November 1918 inclusive) and the Victory Medal.
The 1914-15 star is engraved to the back “14795 GNR .C.LEMON, RGA”.
The British War Medal 1914-1918 is engraved to the edge “14795 GNR .C.LEMON, RA”.
The Victory Medal 1914-1918 is engraved to the edge “14795 GNR .C.LEMON, RA“.
RA stands for Royal Artillery.
~ Death Penny ~
The Next of Kin Memorial Plaque is a bronze plaque approximately 11 cms or 4½ inches in diameter with the name of someone who died serving with the British and Empire forces in the First World War. This was issued to the Next of Kin of the casualty along with the scroll. They were posted out separately, typically in 1919 and 1920, and a ‘King’s message’ was enclosed with both, containing a facsimile signature of the King. This is also named to CHARLES LEMON.
