~ Clarice Cliff Crayon Scene Pattern Wall Plate Circa 1934 ~
A Clarice Cliff plate with a ‘Crayon Scene’ pattern dating to c1934.
The ‘Crayon Scenes’ were a set of at least twelve sketched landscapes, produced using ceramic crayons, drawn freehand in natural colours, featuring very English scenes with churches, trees & bridges, some were named. All examples were decorated by paintress Rene Dale c1934.
This circular form plate is decorated in a naive style in pastel colours depicting a scene of houses on a hill overlooking the sea with rowing boats on the water.
The plate is mounted in a wooden frame with hanging chain to the rear.
It is back-stamped ‘Clarice Cliff Wilkinson Ltd England’.
A rare piece.

The mounted plate measures 10 inches (25cm) in diameter. It weighs 505g.
~ Condition ~
The plate is in great condition. The glaze has some slight crazing but there are no visible cracks or chips. The wooden frame has some slight wear but is in good condition.
