~ 19th Century Staffordshire Of A Lady Fruit Seller ~
This beautifully crafted Staffordshire piece depicts a young woman wearing a decorated floral dress carrying a basket of purple plums which are replicated on her hat.
She has gilt lining around her rather heaving bodice.
The face is finely decorated in graduated tones with rosey cheeks.
~ Dimensions ~
The figurine has a height of 10.5 inches (26.7 cm), the base has a diameter of 3.5 inches (8.9 cm). It weighs 620 g.
It would date to around 1870.
~ Condition ~
There are natural fissures from the folded clay under her left arm, to the side of her right foot, the inner fold of the frontal area of the dress and more extensively to the side of her left foot. Inside is a loose fired piece.
It is free from cracks via damage, chips and restoration.
The colouration is clear with next to no loss and remains in excellent order. The gilding is decent with some loss, most noticeable on the delicate bows on the dress.
