Hunting Figurine from Kenya featuring animals and a flintlock C.1870
Here is a African wood carving depicting a hunter returning with his kill. Balanced on the figures head is a baby elephant with his legs bound in rope. The hunter also has a goat on a sling around his body and a sack on his back containing several birds. The figure is carrying a flintlock musket in his right hand. Under his foot there is a beetle scurrying away.
On the bottom of the figure carved into the wood it reads “By B.U.O”
The figure dates to around 1870.

The figure stands at 17inches (43cm) it is 4.5 inches (11.5cm) wide and 5.5 inches (14cm) deep. The figure weighs 2.24kg.
~ Condition ~
The figure is in very good condition. The carving is good and clear and the surface clean. The elephant has possibly lost his tusks as there are stumps of a white material remaining that could have protruded out at one point.
