~ Late Version 1950 Pattern Portuguese Colégio Militar Military School Shako ~
To the fore is a brass metal regimental badge that reads “CM”, a crown sits atop.
The top & lower rims are made of patent leather. Around the top rim sits a cord cockade (coloured orange & white) pinned by a small steel stud to the fore. It sits in front of the red pompon.
The leather chin strap is attached to the helmet via brass buttons attached to the sides.
The peak is of black patent leather peak.
The interior of the cap retains its original leather sweatband and the remains of the cream silk liner, “1967” is written in pencil along the back edge.
~ Dimensions ~
The shako is 10.5 inches (26.7 cm) long (with its visor) and 7 inches (17.2 cm) wide. It has a inner circumference of 22 inches (54.03cm). It weighs 310 g.
~ Condition ~
There is some minor wear to the leather, though the shako remains in otherwise excellent condition. The plume is incorrect, it should be green.
