~ 19th Century North African Nimcha Sword ~
These scimitar style swords were used in North Africa, principally Morocco and Algeria, from the later 18th century and had characteristic forward pointing quillions terminating in a bud.
The blade has twin full length fullers and a chequered wooden grip. There are two ‘eyelash’ engravings to either side.
~ Condition ~
There are some nicks to the blades edge and the guard has play in it, otherwise fine.
~ Dimensions ~
The sword is 80 cm (31.5 inches) in total length with a 66 cm (26 inch) blade.
