~ 19th Century French Boulle Work Mantle Clock ~
A beautiful ornate twin fusee French boulle work mantle clock dating to the late 1800’s.
The boulle work consists of a red shell pattern material inlaid with arabesques of brass.
The clock is mounted with foliate style brass mouldings including a finial in the form of a cherub and sits on four zoomorphic feet.
There are framed grilled panels of brass upon material to either side of the piece.
The clock has an ornate gilded face with blue on white painted enamel panels showing the hours and minutes in both Arabic and Roman numerals.
The centre of the face has a maritime theme with a wreath dolphin, a mermaid? and the side profile bust of a sailor all in relief.
This face is housed behind a domed glass door with brass surround.
The clock has an ebonised wood reverse with latched door for access to the movement.
The twin fusee movement is marked ‘6971 HP&Co’ with the number ‘069’ within a diamond shape.
The clock is complete with pendulum and comes with a winding key.
~ Condition ~
One of the smaller enamel panels to the face has been replaced with a clay-like material and repainted.
Some of the pins used to affix the brass decoration have been replaced with modern screws.
The boulle work is mostly in very good order with only a couple of small areas where the brass is lifting. This is to the sides and is quite minor.
It is in good working order and has been serviced.

The clock measures 26 cm (10 inches) across, 14 cm (5 ½ inches) deep and has a height of 44.5 cm (17 ½ inches).
It weighs 4.14 Kg.
