~ 19th Century Set Of Japanese Armour ~
Here we have an interesting suit of Japanese armour that would be perfect to be used as a display item.
This set of armour is original and restored rather nicely, the armour came to us from the son of the man who used to restore and care for the Japanese arms and armour at various London museums and UK institutions.
The armour is of a late 19th century style and has been restored for display purposes and is rather sturdy, it seems like some of the silk threads have been replaced but the colours and style has been matched so well it’s imperceptible.
The lacquering is in good shape and in some places has been painted over.
The armour has a gilt, dark red and black paint and lacquer colour scheme with green silk ties.
Overall a brilliant addition to any collection that would suit a novice or an experienced collector.
~ Dimensions ~
The breastplate is 13 inches (33 cm) in width and 17 inches (43 cm) in height.
The helmet is 8 inches (20 cm) tall and approximately 12 inches (30 cm) in diameter.
~ Condition ~
The set is in a good restored condition with some minor damage and wear to the cosmetic paint.
There has been a repair to the helmet with a modern nut to hold the crest in place.
